No excuses

How much time do you spend watching TV? How much time do you spend reading books and magazines? How much time do you spend on Internet? On facebook, myspace, youtube, news sites, reading emails or chatting? How much time do you spend texting? How much time do spend with God?

What will you tell God at the judgment if he asks you why you don’t know Him? Do you really think you can bargain with the God of the universe? You realize you can die any second, everyday in America 6,171 people die. Thats 1 person that dies every 14 seconds. It’s very easy to assume that if you die you’re going to heaven because you’re a ‘good’ person or because you’ve asked Jesus in your heart. But the bible says that heaven will be inhabited by people who know and love God.

When you die you will stand before God and he will flash back your life right in front of your eyes as if on a television screen. If you do not know Him you will have no excuse for that..

I pray that you are seeking God above everything in your life. And if that is something that is hard for you to do, then pray and ask God to make you treasure Him more than you treasure anything in your life. Ask Him to make you love Him more than you love anything in your life. Only through Him can we come to Him. Jesus gave His life to us so He could live His life through us..

Matthew 7:21-23 – “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Matthew 7:36 – Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment.

Hebrews 11:6 – And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

A diligent search

Posted by carl on 21 November, 2009

Anyone who comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who truly want to find him. – Hebrews 11:6

One translation renders Hebrews 11:6: “God … rewards those who earnestly seek him” (niv). I like the King James translation: “He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”

Diligently—what a great word. Be diligent in your search. Be hungry in your quest, relentless in your pilgrimage. Let this book be but one of dozens you read about Jesus.… Step away from the puny pursuits of possessions and positions, and seek your king.

Don’t be satisfied with angels. Don’t be content with stars in the sky. Seek him out as the shepherds did. Long for him as Simeon did. Worship him as the wise men did. Do as John and Andrew did: ask for his address. Do as Matthew: invite Jesus into your house. Imitate Zacchaeus. Risk whatever it takes to see Christ.

O Praise Him

The Choice is Yours

John Piper – Fly to Him

On one side stands the crowd.
Jeering. Baiting. Demanding.
On the other stands a peasant.
Swollen lips. Lumpy eye. Lofty promise.
One promises acceptance, the other a cross.
One offers flesh and flash, the other offers faith.
The crowd challenges, “Follow us and fit in.”
Jesus promises, “Follow me and stand out.”
They promise to please. God promises to save.

God looks at you and asks, “Which will be your choice?”

If people want to follow me, they must give up the things they want. They must be willing even to give up their lives to follow me. – Mark 8:34

Beyond Circumstances

Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you. – Matthew 5:44

The thing that sets the fruit of the Spirit apart from its counterpart is that the fruit of the Spirit is not environmentally sensitive. It’s one thing to have peace and joy when everything is going your way. It’s another thing altogether to maintain your peace and joy when the bottom falls out. It’s one thing to love your children; it’s another thing to love your enemy.

Not I, But Christ

John Piper – He Did

Not I, but Christ liveth in me – Gal. 2:20

The wonder of the life in Jesus is this—and you will find it so, and you have found it so, if you have ever taken your New Testament and tried to make it the rule of your daily life: that there is not a single action that you are called upon to do of which you need be—of which you will be—in any serious doubt for ten minutes as to what Jesus Christ, if He were here, (Jesus Christ being here) would have you do under those circumstances and with the material upon which you are called to act. The soul that takes in Jesus’ word, the soul that through the words of Jesus enters into the very person of Jesus, the soul that knows Him as its daily presence and its daily law—it never hesitates.

This song is from the album 13 letters by 116 clique. Heres a little background info that I found on reachrecords.com about the album..

The 116 Clique is back with the Groundbreaking new album where rap and the bible collide!

Beats, Rhymes, and the Scriptures…. we mashed them together to create 13 Letters, a hip hop overview of Paul’s letters in the New Testament. Ever wish you had a better understanding of some of the Bible? Now you have a tool that can help you grasp it! Each track breaks down a different book that Paul wrote!

The cross

They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. – Revelation 7:14

God has only one requirement for entrance into heaven: that we be clothed in Christ.

Listen to how Jesus describes the inhabitants of heaven: “They will walk with me and wear white clothes, because they are worthy.…” (Rev. 3:4).

Listen to the description of the elders: “Around the throne there were … twenty-four elders.… They were dressed in white and had golden crowns on their heads” (Rev. 4:4).…

All are dressed in white. The saints. The elders.… How would you suppose Jesus is dressed? In white? … “He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God” (Rev. 19:13).

Why is Christ’s robe not white? Why is his cloak not spotless? Why is his garment dipped in blood? … Paul says simply, “He changed places with us” (Gal. 3:13).…

He wore our coat of sin to the cross.

Some sobering statistics from 1995

Posted by carl on 3 November, 2009

•63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes.

•90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes.

•85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes.

•80% of rapists motivated with displaced anger come from fatherless homes.

•71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes.

•70% of juveniles in state operated institutions come from fatherless homes

•85% of all youths sitting in prisons grew up in a fatherless home.

•Nearly 2 of every 5 children in America do not live with their fathers.

This report of statistics was done in 1995. Almost 20 years ago. If you have a child be a part of his/her life. Its interesting to think, if we actually took God and His commands seriously, what kind of world this would be..

If you are a single mother, I pray that you would pray and seek God above all. Make wise decisions with the use of your time and pray that God would put you in a position to find a man who loves God, more than he loves himself, in your child’s life. A man like Jesus..

If you are a single father put yourself in a position to give time to your child. Raise him and love him in such a way that he will live to reflect the image of Christ..

Proverbs 22:6 – Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
